Woman’s Prayer

Great Spirit, I am Mother.
I was made by You so that the image of Your love
Could be brought into existence.
May I always carry with me
The sacredness of this honour.

Creator, I am Daughter.
I am the learner of the Traditions.
May I carry them forward
So that the Elders and Ancestors
Will be remembered for all time.

Maker-Of-All-Things, I am Sister.
Through me, may my brothers be shown
The manner in which I am to be respected.
May I join with my sisters in strength and power as a healing sheild
So that they will no longer bear the stain of abuse.

Niskam, I am Committed Partner:
One who shares her spirit,
But is wise to remember never to give it away,
Lest it become lost,
And the two become less than one.

I am Woman.
Hear me.
Welal’in.
Ta’ho!

We are

What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday

And our present thought build our life of tomorrow:

Our life is the creation of our mind.

-Buddha

A thought…

When you look back on your life, the things that you want people to remember you for are not the long hours you worked, not how much money that you had in the bank and not what a wonderful job you did at work. You want to be remembered for who you are and what you gave to others.

Be remembered for the life gifts that you are blessed to give to others.

Responsibility

Did you ever think about responsibility? I love having responsibilities, but that wasn’t always the case. There were times in my life when I looked at the unbelievable number of responsibilities I has in life and was so overwhelmed – how could one person deal with so much responsibilities? If you are at all like me, then you know how hard it is to say no when someone asks you to take on yet another one.

Then one day, I looked at the word – responsible – and smiled. It was one of those light bulb moments: the workd is a combination of two words:

Response +able.

So first of all I was so glad that I am able, and then I thought how often am I able to respond, really respond. Am I able to respond to all fo the demands made on me. I understood that in order to be responsible, I need to think about the additional responsibilities that I take on.

It made my life so much easier – I have responsibilities that are basic and a part of my life, there are responsibilities that come with my job and that I volunteer for. Today, whenever asked to take on additional responsibilities, I stop and ask myself – am I able to respond to this request? Do I have enough time? Is this something that will hinder me or will it enrich me.

How about you?

I have a friend…

I am blessed with friends. When I think of the gifts that I have been given, friendship is always on the top of my list. It is not the number of friends that a person has, but the quality of the relationship.

Over the years, we may come to believe that the friendships that we have made are the only friends we will have. If we believe this, then this will be our reality. If we open our eyes to other possibilities, we are are able to see that there are so many friendships  waiting for us.

I have amazing friends, each so special in the gift that they bring into my life. I have friends that are so close that they have become my sisters and brothers. We can argue like siblings and know that they will always love mefor who I am, despite our faults.

I have friends that are there in times of joy, in times of fun. I have friends that the realationship is built on fun, but not deep friendships. I value these friendships as well.

I have friends that I talk to once a year, and love them for the oy that they bring me.

I have new friends. Each time I am surprised by the connections that we can make with each other at any age, at any time, anywhere.

We just need to be open to the possibility. This is the key for everything.

I have a friend who loves the to walk on the beach as much as I do. We have only walked on the beach together once and there was no need for words. We just walked. Every time I talk to her and she is on the beach, I know that she remembers how much I love the beach. No words are needed.

I invite you to open yourself to the that the world has to offer.

The world is full of friends.

Our greatest fear – Marianne Williamson

I came across this and wanted to share . Think about how this relates to your life:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be? …. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Impossible

A great quote by Audrey Hepburn:
“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says
“I’m possible”

Ever had one of those days?

Have you ever had “one of those days”? You know the days that I am talking about: the alarm goes off in the morning and you pull the blanket over your head thinking “I just don’t have the energy. Maybe I’ll stay at home today”.

We all have days like this. You pull yourself out of bed, into a long shower and get going. If you have children at home, you find the energy to wake them up and get them off to school, or to their daily routine. If not, you drown yourself in a cup of coffee going over the tasks that await you.

How can we turn these days into days filled with joy?

Here are a few tips:

  1. Before you get out of bed think of one thing that you are thankful for in your life at that particular moment. It can be having a warm blanket to pull over your head, or maybe the roof over your head. Be thankful
  2. The next step is similar to the first: as you begin your morning routine, think of one more thing that you are thankful for: maybe it is someone you love, or someone who loves you. Yes, moms out there, or dads out there, the child that challenged you the most, is the one who will teach you the most important lessons. Be thankful. If you have had problems at work, thank the person who has taught you the lesson of the day. What is it that you have learned?
  3. As you get dressed and have your coffee, think of a warm light that is surrounding you. A soft light. The light is like a soft blanket. This light contains a strong positive energy. The light is strong to those from the outside and will reflect negative energy.
  4. Take this light with you throughout the day. Notice that in situations where others throw negative energy, the light will keep you in it’s world.

As you shine with this light, others will be attracted to your positive energy.

Have a wonderful day my friends!
